What do wire-strippers do?

Wire-strippers are used to cut and strip away the insulation surrounding and protecting wires. Their blades are set so they only compress far enough that the plastic is sheared and not the metal beneath.

Alongside cutting and stripping the insulation of a wire, cable-strippers can shear the entire wire, which is useful for removing excess cabling. They may have crimping functionality, too, letting the user attach a terminal to the end of the wire - or a crimping sleeve that prevents the end of the cable insulation from pulling away from the core of the wire.

What are the different types of wire-strippers?
